Committee Members
One of UCAN’s primary goals is to help make our neighborhood safer. Our safety initiatives are led by our Public Safety Committee. The original safety subcommittee members were Holly Bash, Rick Catterton, Ken Dupee, Bill Falik, John Faxio and Joan Price. As of March 2025, the standing Safety Committee members are Ken Dupee (Chair), Markus Mar-Lui (Vice Chair) and John Faxio. All UCAN members and other neighbors are encouraged to volunteer to join our committees.
Flock Camera System
Our first safety initiative was to install nine Flock Automatic License Plate Reader cameras to both deter crime and help catch those who commit it, to supplement the three that our neighbors on Hillcrest and Eucalyptus had already installed. One of those cameras became redundant and has been removed, leaving us with a robust 11-camera network that covers every entrance and exit point in out neighborhood.​
UCAN's Flock Policies
Striking the right balance between community safety and individual privacy is difficult. As required by law, UCAN has a robust and comprehensive usage and privacy policy for how the Flock camera data can be used, who can access it, and when. Here are the full details of that policy.

Request Flock Camera Data
If there is an emergency or a crime in progress, call 911! Do not contact UCAN. We are not a law enforcement agency.
If you have been the victim of a crime that has been reported to the police, email us at cameras@uplandsclaremont.com and one of our system administrators will respond as soon as possible. Please read the camera policy above to understand that license plate data is only made available to local law enforcement agencies, and only when a police report has been filed. If you would like to report a neighborhood security issue or concern that does not entail a request for camera data, please email us at board@uplandsclaremont.com.
