UCAN is governed by a seven-member volunteer Board of Directors, serving staggered two-year terms. The first official board was elected by the association membership on February 28, 2025. The second board election was held in February 2026. Each year, the board chooses its four officers. The current board members are:

There are no term limits; when their term expires, board members are free to run again if they choose, as is any member of UCAN. 

Each March, the newly reconstituted board selects its four officers for the year, who may or may not be the same four who served the previous year.

​Prior to the 2025 election, UCAN was governed by a founding Provisional Board, consisting of Allan Abshez, Alan Levy, Sophie McNeil, Doug Sovern and Paul Valenstein. The provisional board was chosen and elected by UCAN's formative Steering Committee, comprised of 32 neighbors.
